Mangalore, Apr 21: The programme, 'Bisu Parba Kavi-Koota' was held at Pilikula on Sunday April 19.
The event was jointly organized by Tulu Academy and Pilikula Nisarga Dhama.
Presiding over the function, president of Tulu Sahitya Academy Dr Paltady Ramakrishna Achar said that the trend of neglecting culture and moral values in the name of modernity is not right. The young generation must come forward to conserve the Tulu culture by celebrating traditional observations and festivals promptly, he advised.
The academy is giving importance to protecting the cultural values through organizing festivals.Festivals like 'Bisu', 'Keddasa', 'Tudar Parba', 'Aati Amavasya' and 'Pattanaje' must be celebrated world wide by every Tuluva, he requested.
The importance of the celebration must be disseminated from the elders to the youngsters, said Achar.
Speaking after inaugurating the occasion, Prof A V Navada said that, the reflective investigation of Tulu literature need to be created. Tulu has its own district features and motives, he added.
Dr Vishwanat Padikan briefed the importance of 'Bisu', on the occasion.
Dr Vaman Nandavar welcomed the gathering. Bhaskar Rai Kukkuvalli proposed vote of thanks.
Jayaprakash Bhandary, Shivaram Karant Biological Park director, was present on the occasion.
