Koppa, Apr 19: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi should apologise to the people of the State for speaking lightly about the BJP-led State government, Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa said here on Saturday.
Addressing an election campaign meeting, the chief minister came down heavily on Gandhi and stated that it was the height of irresponsibility to issue such statements.
He took exception to Rahul’s remark that the BJP-led government had no concern for development. Yeddyurappa said it was wrong to believe that his every word would be accepted by the people. If he was interested to know about the developmental works taken up by the State government, he should visit Bangalore and see for himself, the chief minister said. Yeddyurappa criticised the Congress, saying that the party which had done nothing for the past 50 years was speaking about ‘Bharath Nirman’ now.
Later, at Sirsi, he said: “Even Rahul and Priyanka are trying to teach us lessons. Rahul says that terrorism is not a big issue in the country. All know that lakhs of people have been killed by terrorism and 10,000 soldiers are fighting hard against ‘traitors’. But to Rahul, it is a trivial matter.”
