Doha, Apr 29: CCRC lifted the 30th CDC cricket tournament 2019 Division I title with a thrilling 8 run win over M Pallonji at the Losail Cricket Complex.

CCRC who had played 6 earlier finals found their 7th one to be lucky by lifting their maiden championship.

At the prize distribution ceremony Sanjiv Jain, chief financial officer (CFO) of Construction Development Co and Sai Manoj, general manager of Millinuem Travels and Kader of CDC handed over the winners and runners up trophies. The prize distribution ceremony was attended by supporters and well wishers. Over 300 prizes were given away to various players in the tournament.

The prize distribution ended with complimentary refreshments and a lucky draw for spectators.

Construction Development Co (CDC) has the distinction of being the oldest and most supportive sponsor of the Qatar Veteran’s Cricket League since the start of the league in 1988.

M Pallonji won the toss and opted to bowl first. CCRC openers Magsi and Mohsin gave a brisk start with 16 runs scored in the first two overs. Mohsin was the first batsman out for 13 runs at the total 17 runs on board. Then one down batsman Asad joined Magsi and hit some mighty sixes and took the team score to 66 runs in 6.4 overs. At the team total 66 runs, Magsi was out by a brilliant catch from Raziq off Sadiq bowling. CCRC reached 97 runs for 3 after 10 overs and looked dangerous to post a huge total on board. But, some splendid bowling performance from Naveed (3/11 in 3 overs), Sandesh (1/3 in 2 overs), and Praveeen (3/17 in 3 oves) restricted CCRC total score to 141 all out in 18.5 overs.

For CCRC Magsi made 27 runs, Asad made 38 runs and Muzammil 20 runs.

In reply, M Pallonji also started well and made 62/3 in 8 overs. Sajeev made 23. There after losing wickets at quick intervals left M Pallonji requiring 20 runs in the last two overs and having only one wicket in hand. Abbas bowled an excellent 19th over and gave only 4 runs. As M Pallonji required 16 runs in the last over, lost Ayub at the total 133 runs and thus lost by 8 runs.

For M Pallonji Sajeev 23 runs, Ayub 41 runs in 26 balls with 4 sixes and 1 four were the major batting contributors.

For CCRC bowling, Sardar took 2 wickets for 11 runs, Abbas took 2 wickets for 21 runs and Sameer had 2 wickets for 12 runs.

Asad of CCRC was adjudged as Man of the Finals.
