Mumbai, Mar 29: Move over, Ash! It's Katrina Kaif who will be Indian celebrity on whose likeness a Barbie doll will be created by Mattel Toys.
On Day 1 of Lakme Fashion Week, Katrina Kaif glided down the ramp in an award-winning tiered mini with a brocade bodice, that was clasped with a giant gold bow at the back.
Dress the Barbie contest attracted 75 entries from top designers in the country from which the 20 short listed creations were showcased on the ramp at the show.
It was the winning dress by Nishka Lulla that Katrina Kaif modeled as the show stopper of the day.
The Ballroom of the Grand Hyatt Hotel, Mumbai with the extra long ramp was dressed in hundreds of metres of the characteristic Barbie pink silk with the Barbie logo all around. The venue almost resembled Barbie's house.
Frothy party dresses and gowns that were a blend of the east and west turned into great fusion wear as they floated down the ramp. Starting with the Barbie song for the "Plastic and Fantastic Barbie" the accompanying audio visual gave a flash back of Barbie through the five decades and Barbie dolls around the world.
Bubbly Genelia D'Souza scorched the ramp at Manish Malhotra's Fall/Winter 2009 presentation during Lakme Fashion Week on March 27 at Grand Hyaat, Mumbai.
Accompanied by debonair Tusshar Kapoor, the 21-year-old Bollywood up-and-comer raised the glamour quotient at the event to heady levels.
The Jaane Tu Yaa Jaane Na star wore a luxurious jade green velvet lehenga resplendent with shimmer, teamed with a bronze halter corset and a nude dupatta with golden borders. Her long dark hair was slicked down and pulled back exposing her chiseled facial features.
Ever charming Tusshar Kapoor looked stylish all the way in chocolate brocade sherwani.
