Panaji, Apr 19: Three constituencies in North Goa, including Mandrem, Mapusa, and Panaji along with one constituency in South Goa, Shiroda, recorded a higher voter turnout compared to the 2014 Lok Sabha polls. In which, Mandrem observed the highest voter turnout of 86.5% on Tuesday that is significantly higher than the 81.1% recorded in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls. Sakhali and Shiroda, with voting percentages of 84.9% and 83.9%, followed closely behind Mandrem constituency.

As per TOI report, North Goa recorded an average voter turnout of 76% and none of its 20 constituencies recorded a voter turnout below 71%. In comparison, South Goa recorded an average voter turnout of only 72.9% where five Salcete constituencies- Benaulim, Velim, Cuncolim, Navelim and Nuvem along with Vasco and Cortalim failed to touch the 70% mark and pulled down the entire voter turnout percentage for the district.

Apart from Shiroda, which recorded a voter turnout of 83.9%, the constituencies of Sanvordem, Sanguem and Curchorem came in close with voter turnouts of 79.8%, 78.6% and 77.2%, respectively. However, none of the constituencies in the state could beat their voter turnouts in the 2017 state assembly elections.
