Mumbai, Apr 15: Bantara Sangha, Mumbai celebrated Bisu Parba annual friendly get-together at Kurla on Sunday April 14.
The programme chaired by president Padmanabha S Payyade was inaugurated by chief guest, Bhavani Foundation Navi Mumbai founder president Daddangadi Chelladka K D Shetty after lighting the lamp.
Former cricketers Krishnamachari Srikanth and Skytec company managing director Chandrahas S Shetty Thane were present as guests of honour. The guests together with sponsors presented annual Kananjar Ananda Shetty Memorial Yakshagana arts award to veteran artiste Shama Shetty and Jyothi R N Shetty sponsored Prema Narayan Rai award to Arusha N Shetty.
The president hoisted the flag of the sangha and symbolically set the programme in motion in the morning. Pujas were held in the premises of the sangha. Chief priest Vidwan Arvind Bannintaya performed pujas and distributed prasada. Artistes from ladies and youth wing from nine regional committees performed dances and cultural programmes. Artistes from Bantara Sangha managing committee and Banta Yakshagana Kala Vedike presented ‘Krishna Krishna Srikrishna’ Yakshagana play directed by Ajekar Balakrishna and enacted by Sathish Shetty Patla.
Padmanabha Payyade welcomed the gathering. Kavita I R sang a prayer song and introduced the felicities. Karnur Mohan Rai compered the cultural programme. Ashok Pakkala compered the programme. CA Sanjiva Shetty gave a brief description of the activities of the sangha during the year and proposed the vote of thanks.
