Mumbai, Mar 17: Christian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) and The Blaisian Worker’s Apostolate jointly organized an enlightening legal seminar on ‘will and succession’ as applicable to Christians, on Sunday March 15, at St Blaise High School auditorium, Amboli, Andheri (West), here.
Amboli St Blaise parish priest Fr Felix D’ Souza was the chief guest of the occasion.
Mumbai High Court (HC) lawyer and CCCI legal advisor Pius Vas delivered a talk on ‘Succession’. HC lawyer and solicitor Derryl Vas spoke on ‘Will’ and HC lawyer Genevieve Vas spoke on ‘Nomination.’
The highlight of the seminar was whether probate of the will is necessary? Whether registration of the will is compulsory? Is nomination by itself sufficient in respect of flats/bank accounts?
CCCI vice presidents Albert W D’Souza, John D’ Silva and Henry Lobo and CCCI director Agnelo Rajesh Athaide were present at the dais.
CCCI directors Lawrence Coelho, Randolph Alves, Anthony Sequeira, Stanly Lasrado and Augstino G Fernandes, committee advisor Anthony Rasquinha and executive secretary Alphonsus Corda were present.
CCCI president Vincent Mathias delivered introductory address. CCCI secretary K Swamy and Ashwin D’Mello compered the programme. Ivan D’Souza of Blaisian Worker’s Apostolate, Amboli introduced the chief guest while CCCI vice president Henry Lobo proposed vote of thanks.
A large number of Christian community persons in the metro benefited from the seminar.
