Mumbai, Apr 5: 80 year old Katie Bathena, an ardent sports aspirant proves age is not a barrier when it comes to passion. Residing in Juhu, Bathena hails from a family of rallyists. She says, “It has been 50 years since I started and I have never fallen out of love for the sport.”
The veteran rally driver and contestant Bathena is all set to participate in India Automobile Association’s (WIAA) women’s car rally on April 7. She said she has never fallen out of love for the sport. Bathena (80) is the first and eldest participant in the rally to be flagged off on Sunday.
She shared her personal thought on how the sport has advanced with automated navigation and smartphones. “Back in time when I started, it was only the person sitting next to us who could navigate through our routes. Today cars are much more advanced than the ones we drove back then,” she said.
