Margao, Apr 3 (TOI): Congress candidate Francisco Sardinha, in his affidavit filed before the returning officer for the South Goa parliamentary polls on Tuesday, revealed that the former South Goa MP has total assets, including that of his spouse, valued at nearly Rs 9 crore.
While his moveable assets are worth nearly Rs 3.5 crore, immovable assets of the Sardinha couple are valued at over Rs 5 crore, as per his affidavit. The Sardinhas own several agricultural properties, some of which are inherited ones, and residential buildings in various parts of the state.
Sardinha has no liabilities as per the affidavit. While Sardinha, a former chief minister, claims to be a social worker, his wife is a retired grade one teacher. He has stated in his affidavit that while his source of income is the pension drawn from state and central governments as well as rents (from leased properties), that of his spouse is pension, rents and agricultural income.
Sardinha has no pending criminal cases against him nor has he been convicted for any criminal offence, the affidavit reveals.
