Poinguinim: Liquor worth Rs 5.45 lakh seized at Polem


Poinguinim, Mar 26 (TOI): In a raid conducted on Sunday,a wholesale liquor shop near the Polem border was raided and unaccounted liquor worth Rs 5.45 lakh was seized.

The raid was conducted by a team from the excise department, led by excise inspector Pramod Juvekar.

The owner of the liquor shop, Sunil Naik, has been booked under Section 8 of Goa Excise Duty Act and Rules 1964, read with rules 97 and 101.

It is suspected that the liquor was stocked for distribution during the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
