Mumbai, Feb 28: Somashekar Javarappa Gowda was appointed the new president of the south India Mumbai unit of Janata Dal (S) by former Prime Minister and JD(S) national president H D Deve Gowda here on Friday February 27.
Somashekar Javarappa Gowda is the leader of the Vokkaliga community in the metro, an efficient and honest social worker, engaged in the hotel industry. He is also actively involved in the metro’s Sri Adichunchanagiri Seva Samiti.
Somashekar was appointed president with an eye on the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls, stated Mumbai JD(S) president Prakash Hivale in a press release.
The JD(S) south India Mumbai unit was formed to get the support of a large number of people of the Kannadiga Vokkaliga community who are residing across Maharashtra.
A mega rally will be held shortly in the metro under the leadership Deve Gowda, attended by Karnataka former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy, said JD(S) Maharastra state president Sharad Patil.
