Mumbai, Feb 28: The second annual day celebration of the ‘Guru-Shishya Okkoota’ was held on Thursday February 26 at the Dr M Vishweshwarayya Memorial Auditorium.
Supreme Court retired judge B N Srikrishna inaugurated the programme on Thursday afternoon. Crusader of co-operative banks John D’Silva was the chief guest of the occasion.
Karnataka Rajyotsav Award winner Vijay Kumar Shetty was the specially-invited guest.
Arunodaya Kalaniketan dance teacher M S Suvarna, retired jurist and thinker R C Shetty, poet, litterateur, and retired principal J A Joshi, retired professor, litterateur, and Tulu–Kannada poet Dr Sunita M Shetty, international athlete R H Shetty, Ucchil Bovi Higher Primary School teacher Tashodha Ucchil, teacher Kalyani Ucchil, retired professor, poet, litterateur and thinker Dr K Sanjeev Shetty, retired professor and poet B S Kurkal, metropolitan police officer Prakash V Bhandary, retired legal consultant V R Shetty, Mumbai Kannada medium school 16th rank holder Jyoti Ganiga, and retired teacher Sundari Ucchil were present on the occasion.
Guru-Shishya Okkota president Dr Vani Ucchilkar and honourary chief secretary Satish Salian were also present on the dais.
Krishnaraj Shetty and Dayasagar Chowta compered the programme.
A slideshow on the importance of relations between teachers and pupils as envisioned by Guru-Shishya Okkota was held on the occasion.
Various dances and cultural events were also held as well as felicitations of teachers and achievers.
