Panaji, March 25 (IANS): Newly appointed Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Monday invited journalists as well as party workers to write essays about their memories of the late Manohar Parrikar, which would be published by the state government in the form of a book dedicated to the former Defence Minister.
"We are publishing a book which will be a collection of Parrikar's thoughts. We will be sourcing his old pictures and articles for this too. Write down your memories about him. I am also urging my journalist friends to write and submit it to the Information (and Publicity) department," Sawant said, while addressing a party function in Panaji.
The Chief Minister also said that Parrikar should not just be known as a person who was responsible for creating a lot of infrastructure but also as a man with a vision and ideas.
Parrikar died on March 17 after a long battle with pancreatic cancer.
"His ideas should reach to every school. He should not just be remembered for the infrastructure he created," Sawant said.
"He wanted people to live for Goa and for India. His thoughts need to percolate to everyone," the Chief Minister said.
Parrikar had served as Goa Chief Minister four times and was the Defence Minister from 2014-2017.
