Mangalore, Feb 27: The sessions court here has stayed the proposal to deport Sri Rama Sene leaders Prasad Attavar and Subhas Padil, on Thursday February 26. It has also ordered for transfer of all the files and records pertaining to the deportation proposals, from the court of the assistant commissioner here, to the sessions court before April 29.
The district administration had issued notices through the police department to five Srirama Sene activists including the above two, in the backdrop of attack on a local pub and the scare created by the outfit on Valentine's Day, asking them as to why they should not be expelled from the taluk. All the five approached the court, questioning this move.
In the case of Prasad Attavar, the first additional sessions court has issued the stay order. In the case of Subhas Padil, the second additional sessions court stayed the deportation proposal for three months. It has ordered for the transfer of all the records pertaining to the proposal, from the court of the assistant commissioner to itself.
