Mangaluru, Mar 20: A day after Daijiworld published the heartbreaking story of Charan (27) and Kiran (35), the physically challenged siblings residing in a state of destitution at Katte in Kodikal, Corrine Rasquinha, founder of White Doves Psychiatric Nursing and Destitute Home has come forward to accommodate them and take care of their medical and other needs.
Daijiworld published a detailed story on Tuesday March 19 about the siblings who were completely forgotten and neglected, with nobody around them to pay heed to their grievances.
The two brothers had lived in a shed for many years with their mother. The lives of the brothers took a miserable turn after their mother passed away last month. After the death of their mother they struggled to get even one meal a day. Making matters worse, a relative who was serving food to the siblings suffered a bad fall, and doctors advised her bedrest for six months. When the team from Daijiworld visited the brothers’ house, Kiran, the elder brother narrated their ordeal and requested for help.
Anand, a social worker who has been helping the brothers for the past many years with clothes and groceries, expressed concern and appealed to the public and to NGOs to rehabilitate the siblings.
On Wednesday March 20, Corrine Rasquinha and her team along with Anand visited the siblings' house at Kodikal to take steps to accommodate them.
Speaking to Daijiworld, Corrine said, "We came to know the tragic story of the siblings through Daijiworld media. I really appreciate the gesture, because they saved two lives from painful death. As humans it is our responsibility to accommodate Kiran and Charan and let them live a happy and peaceful life. Charan who cannot stand properly needs special care. We at White Doves will take care of them with accommodation, food and medicine."
After the story was broadcast on Daijiworld TV and web portal, several well-wishers from around the world contacted Daijiworld with offer to help the brothers. It is truly heartwarming to know that there are scores of people who are eager to extend a helping hand to the less fortunate. The prayers and support of our readers have time and again come as a blessing to the needy who appeal for assistance through our portal.
We at Daijiworld thank Corrine Rasquinha and her team at White Doves for taking the remarkable gesture to help Kiran and Charan.
