Udupi, Mar 18: A police complaint is registered in Byndoor police station against an artiste who used dialogues such as ‘Where are you son? I am here father’ that are out of context in Yakshagana play.
The complaint was registered by Karnataka Karmikara Vedike in the leadership of state president Dr Ravi Shetty and office bearers alleging that the artiste has insulted the art and Yakshagana fans.
It may be recalled that the troll has been aimed at H D Kumaraswamy and Nikhil Kumaraswamy alleging them indulging in dynastical politics.
Ravi Shetty said that the art has the efforts of thousands of artistes and Yakshagana fans supporting them. “Yakshagana is being performed as the art of light, as vows to the almighty and art of coastal culture. In the circumstances, it is sad that one or two ignorant people in the intoxication of comedy these days are using troll subjects to please somebody.”
“There is no doubt that it will bring bad name to Yakshagana fans and artistes if the practice continues. It is painful for me to lodge a complaint against an artiste as I had requested the government for six months salary, to provide quality colors, beauty products and free insurance to the artistes. The complaint was necessary as the developments should not make Yakshagana artistes to bow their head in shame,” he said.
Responding to a question he said that the complaint is not politically motivated. “I have complained as independent, as a leader of an organization and a fan of Yakshagana. The dirty talk that is used in politics should not be used in Yakshagana,” he said.
Sandesh Bhat, Raju Shetty Mudoor, Pradee Devadiga and others were present.
