Mumbai, Mar 11 (TOI): Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday released the brochure of a rehabilitation scheme in Kalbadevi and Girgaum which is being affected by the construction of an underground Metro corridor. The rehabilitation scheme has been initiated by the Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC), which is executing the project.
MMRC spokesperson said, "The brochure will be made available to the public. The document has information about the new development that will take place in Girgaum and Kalbadevi following the Metro Line 3 construction." Two underground stations-Kalbadevi and Girgaum-are being constructed in the highly congested area along JSS Road.
The MMRC has prepared a rehabilitation plan for the affected properties with in-situ rehabilitation under regulation number 33 (7) of DCR. The has been approved by the state government.
Under in-situ rehabilitation schemes, project-affected persons (PAPs) get flats with modern amenities and double the existing area up to 300 sq ft. Those living in 300 sq ft to 444.44 sq ft, will get flats with 600 sq ft area. Tenants with more than 444.44 sq ft homes will get 35% more area and commercial PAPs get 20% more area. The tenants will be accommodated in six buildings.
