Beltangady, Feb 14: Beltangady Taluk Hindu Jagaran Vedike has complained to the block education officer as well as the tahsildar on Friday February 13, alleging that Isubu, a physical education teacher working in Buleri highschool of Mogru village had forcibly removed the holy threads some students were wearing, with the help of a knife.
Reportedly, tenth standard students of the school named Ravichandra, Nemanna, Jagadish, Santosh and Ramesh had informed their families that the school physical education teacher had instructed them to remove the holy thread tied around their wrists. After the students stuck to their stand that they would not remove the thread which represented their religious beliefs, the teacher reportedly came to the school with a knife, removed the threads with the help of the knife, ridiculed the religious faith of the children, thereby meting out mental harassment to the children, the Vedike claimed.
Vedike president Padmanabh Shettigar and secretary Shyam Sundar have requested the concerned to conduct detailed investigation into the incident and take action against the erring teacher as per legal provisions.
