Bantwal, Feb 13: In terms of the High Court order, Dakshina Kannada district deputy commissioner (DC) Ponnuraj visited the AMR power project of Shambhoor near here on Thursday February 12.
The residents of nearby villages like Vasudev Karant and Vasudev Mayya, had filed petitions in the High Court, explaining about the problems faced by the villagers here because of the giant transmission towers being set up by the company and drawing of power cables through the agricultural lands during the execution of the hydel power project.
The deputy commissioner and KPTCL officials visited the site for verifying the genuineness of the complaints, as per the High Court order.
In relation to the issue, the deputy commissioner asked the tahsildar, revenue officer and the surveyor to verify the problems and submit a report.
Mahabal Poojary, leader, Welfare Forum of the Affected, Prakash Karant, Manjunat Bhat, Sundar Shetty and others were present on the occasion.
Later, representative of the Welfare Forum of the Affected handed over a memorandum to the DC, explaining in detail various problems the people faced, because of the execution of this hydel power project.
