Mangaluru, Mar 4: “Harmony with all the religions is the need of the hour. As Christians, we have a big responsibility to build the society. Small Christian Community (SCC) is the foundation for formation of good society. It is the ever flowing spring to build good rapport with the society. Living together with all the religions should be our motto,” said Bishop of Mangalore Diocese Dr Peter Paul Saldanha on the occasion of SCC Silver Jubilee closing ceremony that was held at Holy Family Church, Omzoor, Mermajal, Mangalore.
Earlier all the former priests and assistant priests, present parish priest Fr Alwyn D’Cunha along with the main celebrant Dr Peter Paul Saldanha concelebrated the Jubilee Mass. Fr Joachim Fernandes delivered the homily. On this occasion former parish priests Fr Xavier Pintio, Fr Andrew D’Souza, Fr Cyril Pinto, Fr Edwin Mascarenhas, Fr Joachim Fernandes, Fr Boniface Pinto, present priest Fr Alwyn D’Cunha and all the former and present conveners, Joseph Veigas, Patrick Pinto, James Lewis and Philomena Monteiro were felicitated.
On behalf of the parish, Bishop Dr Peter Paul Saldanha was honoured. As a part of celebration, felicitation was held for parish couples who celebrated Golden and Silver Jubilee during the last year. The national awardee by Ministry of Earth Sciences Ronald John Vaz was also honoured. The 25th year was celebrated with variety of programmes under the leadership of Fr Alwyn D’Cunha.
