Margao, Mar 4 (TOI): Town and country planning minister Vijai Sardesai on Sunday said the turn of events following chief minister Manohar Parrikar’s illness had threatened to shatter the dreams of the people of Goa.
“Cancer is such a disease which not only kills the dreams of an individual and his family, but also that of the state,” he said, while speaking as a chief guest at a cancer awareness camp organised at Fatorda.
Later speaking to reporters, Sardesai who is also the head of the alliance partner GFP, referring to Parrikar’s “advanced stage” of illness, hoped that all the commitments given by them to the people would be fulfilled “through his (Parrikar’s) hands”.
“We tied up with him. And in no aspect of our political calculation we had imagined he would get cancer. It could have killed our dreams. But God has given him the strength to continue to work for the people of Goa,” he said. Sardesai said he has sought an appointment with the chief minister on Monday to get the kabrastan work sanctioned.
