Mangaluru: Officials raid illegal laterite stone quarry - confiscate equipment, stones

Mangaluru, Mar 3: Based on concrete information that an illegal laterite stone quarry was being operated at Adyapady village in the taluk without any permission of the mines and geology department, the spot was raided. Bajpe police station inspector, and personnel of anti-rowdy squad of the city north subdivision, along with mines and geology department official, B K Murthy, raided the spot.

During the raid, the officials found that Maxim Pinto, a local, was running a laterite stone quarry at Adyapady without obtaining licence from mines and geology department. A laterite stone cutting machine, a machine used to extract laterite stones, and 2000 sized laterite stones were taken into custody from the spot and handed over to the department of mines and geology for further action.

The operation was conducted by police inspector, S Parashivamurthy, with the support of other staff, under the guidance of assistant police commissioner, Srinivas Gowda.
