Panaji: Soon, coaching classes to be charged trade fee


Panaji, Mar 1 (TOI): Professional coaching classes, creches, dance, music and art classes, and stockbroking companies will now come under the trade and occupational fee structure.

The Corporation of the City of Panaji, for the first time on Thursday, has decided to annual levy trade and occupation fee for professional coaching classes as well as dance, music and art classes. Coaching classes for competitive examinations will attract a fee of Rs 50,000 while those running smaller classes, with less than three teachers, will be charged Rs 10,000. The annual trade fee for creches, dance, music and art classes will be Rs 5,000.

Stock brokers and financial management companies will have to pay Rs 15,000, while the fee for online trading and marketing firms will be Rs 5,000. Gymnasiums will have to pay Rs 25,000 while professionals, lawyers, doctors, lawyers, architects and engineers will be charged Rs 5,000.

In addition, monthly sanitation fees of Rs 1,000 will be imposed on stock brokers and professional coaching classes, Rs 200 on smaller coaching classes, creches, dance, music and art classes and Rs 1,000 on gymnasiums, the corporation decided at the budget meet for the year 2019-20.

An additional provision of Rs 2 crore, has been made in the budget for minor works and development in all wards.

CCP, during the meeting, also decided to levy an annual road cutting rent on agencies using CCP's land to lay pipes.
