Dubai, Mar 1: ‘Noite De Goa’ made its debut on February 15 at the Club House Terrace, Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club.
The concert was curated by ‘The Yard’ and for the first time ever, it created a platform, successfully showcasing an amalgamation of Goan Art, Music and Culture.
The concert managed to draw a crowd of over 900 people bustling with enthusiasm and captured the essence of the show that focused on attracting and uniting the Goans, thereby rekindling nostalgia in the hearts of every person attending.
With the stage set on the banks of the creek, the setting boasted of a magnificent Dubai skyline as its backdrop. With a promising line up of musicians and great food the crowd knew what the evening had in-store for them.
To commence with, Dubai’s dazzling duo Mario and Chryslyn performed on the occasion. It was followed by a scintillating performance by Sanio Fernandes. Goa’s favorite comedians, Prince Jacob and John D’silva had the crowd roaring with laughter.
Thereafter Lorna took to the stage mesmerizing the audience and kick starting on a high note with ‘Noxibak Rodtam’. She had the crowd singing and tapping their feet to her tunes for 45 minutes straight, energetic and lively as ever.
Remo and The Microwave Papadums, started their set on the strum of everyone’s favourite “Maria Pitache” and later had the crowd literally jumping to “Pyarka signal” and many more.
A documentary ’Portrait of a Goan Collector’ shot by Dubai Based producer/director, Agnelo Rodrigues, The Picture Bar and addressed by the man himself - Victor Hugo Gomes was also presented.
The evening came to a crescendo when Goa’s most loved legends Remo & Lorna, took to stage together for the first time ever and belted out a few tracks. They had the crowd in high spirits. The night climaxed with an appreciation ceremony that had the legends and the artists awarded with “Noite De Goa” trophies.
The concert was hosted by Goa's leading stalwart, Lester Gracias and the coverage was done by The Yard’s visual production partner - The Picture Bar.
The event efficaciously brought together the Konkani speaking communities, encapsulating the heart of every Goan – their enthusiasm and love for their ethnicity. Many friends and fans flew down to Dubai from Goa, Oman, Qatar and London only to sing along with Goa’s most loved artists.
‘The Yard’ owned by Henry Fernandes, was responsible for conceptualizing, designing and executing the event end to end flawlessly, with excellent event co-ordination and assistance from Lester, Carey, Agnelo, Elton and Boney.
The Yard has an office in Goa managing end to end destination & local weddings, concerts and corporate events headed by Natasha Abreu whose presence for the concert was an added asset.
