Doha: Mc Donalds emerges winner in M Pallonji Div II cricket tourney

Doha, Feb 26: In the 5th M Pallonji cricket tournament 2019 – Division-II, in an all Sri Lankan low scoring encounter Mc Donalds defeated Ceylon Warriors by 36 runs.

Winning the toss, Mc Donalds elected to bat. However Mc Donalds kept losing wickets with good bowling and fielding by Ceylon Warriors. Mc Donalds were all out for 109 runs in 17.2 overs.

Opener Nova was unbeaten on 39 runs off 19 balls with a six and 6 boundaries. Charles had a quick fire 22 runs off 11 balls with 3 sixes. Viraj added 18 runs off 9 balls with 2 sixes and 1 boundary.

Saman bowled excellently to claim 4 wickets giving away only 14 runs, while Kelum, Jeron and Mahesh took 2 wickets each for Ceylon Warriors.





In reply, Ceylon Warriors were all out for only 77 runs in 19.5 overs. Christy was the only one to resist top scoring with 20 runs including 1 six and 1 boundary. The only other batsman to reach double figures was Jeron with 10 runs.

Lasantha bowled superbly scalping 4 wickets giving away only 5 runs, Irosha took 3 wickets while Prageeth and Yaseer took a wicket each from Mc Donalds.

Mc Donalds won the Division II final by 36 runs.

At the well attended prize distribution ceremony, chief guest was Chidananda Nayak, regional general manager of M Pallonji and guests of honour was Sharad Reddy, contracts manager of M Pallonji.

Following were declared best of the tournament:

Best Batsman: Lasantha of Mc Donalds
Best Bowler: Haleem of QS Tec
Best All Rounder : Pragash of Ceylon Warriors
Best Wicket Keeper: Pankaz of Al Zaman Exchange

The prize distribution ceremony was attended by supporters and well wishers. Over 250 prizes were given away to various players in the tournament.

The prize distribution ended with complimentary refreshments and a lucky draw for spectators.
