Doha, Feb 24: In the Division I of the 5th M Pallonji Cricket Tournament 2019, hosts got the better of CCRC Warriors in a well fought encounter winning by by 5 wickets.
Last year also CCRC Warriors had lost to Asian Cricket Club (ACC).
The finals was played at the West Bay Cricket Complex, Losail on February 22 under excellent weather conditions.
M Pallonji is sponsoring the Veterans’ Cricket League for the 5th time with the co-operation of Chidananda Nayak, Regional General Manager of M Pallonji.
CCRC Warriors after winning the toss elected to bat which seemed a good decision. CCRC Warriors however put up only 61 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in the first 10 overs. Thereafter, CCRC Warriors trying to accelerate lost wickets at regular intervals. CCRC Warriors were all out for 131 runs in 19.4 overs. Asadullah was the main batsman who scored 24 runs off 15 deliveries with 2 boundaries. Mazhar Abbas and Muzammil chipped in with 16 runs each.
Naveed and Alban took 3 wickets each, Sanath, Siddiq, Praveen and Sandesh took 1 wicket each for M Pallonji.
In reply M Pallonji started confidently, they scored 71 runs for the loss of 5 Wickets in the first 10 overs. Some lusty hitting by Rajesh 26 runs off 18 balls with 1 six and 2 boundaries and Rauf 26 runs off 15 balls with 2 six and 2 boundaries saw them very close to winning. Needing 8 runs off 4 overs saw Firdous clean bowling Rauf and giving away only 3 runs. 18th over bowled by Asadullah saw only 1 run. The 19th over by Muzammil saw first 3 dot balls but 4th ball saw Naveed edge it to the boundary and M Pallonji won. Sultan 16 runs and Sajeev 11 runs were the other contributors.
Finally M Pallonji scored 133 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in 18.4 overs.
Mazhar Abbas claimed 3 wickets while Moshin, Firdous and Fawu Khan took 1 wicket each for CCRC Warriors.
M Pallonji won the match by 5 wickets.

At the well attended Prize distribution ceremony, chief guest was Chidananda Nayak, Regional General Manager of M Pallonji and guest of honour was Sharad Reddy - contracts manager of M Pallonji.

The prize distribution ceremony was attended by supporters and well wishers. Over 250 prizes were given away to various players in the tournament.
The prize distribution ended with complimentary refreshments and a lucky draw for spectators.
