Mumbai, Feb 4: Abdul Karim Telgi, kingpin of the multi-crore and multi-state stamp paper racket, was sentenced to five years rigorous imprisonment, in connection with nine different cases registered against him, by a special court here on Monday February 2.

Telgi had pleaded guilty in all these cases. Special CBI court judge C K Bhedi also ordered him to pay a fine of Rs 85,000.

Telgi is lodged in Yerawada Jail in Pune presently. He had pleaded for concession in conviction on the ground that he is HIV-positive Telgi has already been convicted for different jail terms relating to various fake stamp paper cases.  The court also awarded five years of jail term to the other 11 co-accused in the case.
