Mumbai, Feb 21: Konkani group Malvani celebrated its silver jubilee function on Sunday February 17 at St Antony School Quandrangle, Malvani, Malad.
A comedy Konkani drama ‘Keppyachin Khestanvan’ was staged. The programme commenced after the welcome address by Loviza Pereira, president, followed by a two minute silent prayer for the victims of the terrorist attack on the CRPF troops on February 14 at Pulwama, in J&K, where 42 Jawans were killed.
Variety programmes in the form of prayer dance, singing, dance and Konkani skit by the members and their children were organized. All acts were appreciated and enjoyed by the audience.
Chief guest Gilbert Baptist and Marceline Baptist (proprietor– Malaika) guest comedy king Francis Fernandes Cascia, Joy Paladka (drama director), Hilary Lobo, (proprietor Sagar Family Restaurant), Rony Pinto, Leo Fernandes (Konkani actor and film producer) were felicitated with bouquets of flowers by Luviza Pereira, president, Sabastian D’Mello, vice president, Charles Saldhana, secretary, Gregory Viegas, treasuer and Felix D’Souza, cultural programme in charge. The report of the Konkani Group Malvani, was prepared and presented beautifully by Charles Saldanha, secretary. Felix D’Souza Malvani, thanked all the guests, sponsors, donors and the lovely people present.
A dose full of laughter was added by the Konkani comedy drama ‘Keppyachin Khestanvan’ written by Claud D’Souza, Bendoor, directed by Joy Paladka, acted by Julie Vas Marol, Gregory Sequeira Niddodi, Felix D’Souza Malvani and Melwyn D’Souza Kandivali. The drama was enjoyed by the audience who cheered and laughed.
The function was compered beautifully by George Sequeira, Bhayandar. 600 people were present. Snacks were served to all.
The next programme of Konkani group Malvani, was announced. A comedy, emotional Konkani drama ‘Mhojhe Voili Kals written by Joseph D’Souza Borivali and directed by William Machado Borivali, will be staged on Sunday April 21 at 7 pm at St Anthony Church ground, Malvani, Malad.
