Mandya, Feb 18: Kalavathi, wife of the slain soldier from Gudigere in Maddur taluk, Guru, said that her husband wanted to serve the Indian army for ten more years. "He could not fulfill his wish. I want to do by bit in serving the country by joining the army," she added.
"I had completed graduation at the time of marriage. My husband inspired me to continue my education. He said he will back my desire to study as long as I want to. He was everything for me. After losing him, I have plunged into nothingness," she lamented.
Guru's father, Honnayya, said that he will make his grandchildren also to serve the security forces. He requested all the families in the country to send one member each to serve the army.
The family has been getting a steady stream of financial assistance. Infosys Foundation has announced financial assistance of Rs 10 lac to each of the families of soldiers who died in the recent suicide bombing. 'Bell Bottom' Kannada movie team visited the family of Guru and handed over assistance on Sunday.
