Mumbai: Mysore Association holds charity lecture programme

Mumbai, Feb 18: Mysore Association and Mumbai University Kannada department held their annual charity lecture and release of literary works programme at Mysore Association auditorium, Matunga on Saturday February 16.

Well known author and film director Nagatihalli Chandrashekar speaking on the subject of ‘I, my contemporaries and my literature', said that villages are our souls. “The villages are injured. It is unfortunate that cities that are spreading have swallowed our villages.”

Mysore Association president Kamala Kantaraj, secretary Dr Ganapathi S Shankeralinga, Jaya C Salian and K Ushamurthi were on the dais. Nagatihalli released a book on upcoming talent of journalist R V Murthy edited by Dr Leela B Jois and published by Abhijith Prakashan Mumbai. Veteran dramatist Dr B R Manjunath introduced the work.



Dr Sunita M Shetty, Dr Bharath Kumar Polipu, Omdas Kannangar, Dr Mamatha Rao, Somnath Karkera, Devadas Shetty, G N Nayak, Shamala Madhav, Dr Ishwar Alevoor, Harish Hejmady and others were present.

Homage was offered in the beginning for Indian soldiers who died in the recent terrorist attack. Comedian Shamala Prakash sang a welcome song. Kannada assistant lecturer Dr Poornima Sudhaker Shetty introduced the guests and compered the programme. Dr Ganapathi S Shankeralinga proposed the vote of thanks.
