Shivamogga, Feb 16: Her father, who used to lift sacks in one of the coffee curing units of the taluk, now works as a daily wage labourer in land belonging to several people. Mother works in coffee estates. Family of K A Netravati lived with abject poverty. But this brave girl did not get bogged down by these hurdles. Her determination to succeed in life has given her first rank and seven gold medals in the convocation ceremony of Kuvempu University.
K A Netravati, daughter of daily wage labourer Annappa, a resident of scheduled caste colony of Kuruvangi of Chikkamagaluru is the girl who has made this stupendous achievement. Netravati, who did her studies in IDSC Government College of Chikkamagaluru, has secured first rank in the postgraduate studies of Kannada in the Kuvempu University and also bagged seven gold medals.
The proud and beaming Netravati said, "I am happy that I have secured the first rank. I have studied in Kannada medium and have the dream of becoming a lecturer. People who are interested in studies have to decide their goal in the beginning. If we continue studying without getting bogged down by the difficulties, we will taste success. We should not forget our mother language Kannada. There is nothing wrong in studying other languages including English. Those languages help a person to get a job. There are opportunities in Kannada language also and we need to have the skill to explore the same."
