Karkala, Feb 16: A leopard attacked two people and injured them seriously at Ambala Padavu near Kantavara temple of the taluk on Friday February 15. The forest officials who arrived at the spot were able to catch the leopard and it was taken to Pilikula Nature Sanctuary in Mangaluru. The injured are admitted to hospital.

The leopard first attacked Sundar Poojary, a local resident in the early morning of Friday and escaped from the spot. It then attacked Meena Poojarthi at around 10 am. The villagers are saying that the said leopard is roaming around in the vicinity from three to four days. Earlier, though a trap cage was kept to catch the leopard, the attempt went in vain.

Many local people and forest department personnel cooperated in the operation of catching the leopard.
