Puttur, Feb 16: "We are located at Panth Chowk under the limits of Srinagar, which is a good 40 kilometers away from Awantipora in Pulwama, where the suicide bomb blast took place. The intensity of the blast was so high that we could hear the sound as well as vibrating of the ground here at Panth Chowk," said Mahesh P, a resident of Keyyur village of the taluk and BSF soldier deputed in Jammu and Kashmir.
Mahesh further said, "On Thursday, February 14, BSF soldiers had to move to Jammu from Srinagar. However, due to snowfall, the journey was cut short as the buses could not ply. However, the terror attack took place in the route in which the CRPF soldiers were being transported."
"Awantipora falls on the only highway that needs to be accessed by each and everyone who needs to reach Jammu. We, the BSF soldiers have not gone to the area where the terror attack has taken place. The team of CRPF soldiers is on duty there. As the explosives was improvised one, even two kg of it was sufficient to convert the bus into a heap of metal. However, this attacker carried hundreds of kilos of the explosive. So the damage is unimaginable," shared his thoughts, Mahesh.
Mahesh continued his statement and said, "All were informed to be on high alert as soon as the suicide bombing occurred. It is suspected that this is a pre-planned attack by the terrorists. It is also opined that the locals are involved in the act."
Mahesh joined BSF in 2013 and has served in Assam, Gujarat, and Rajasthan etc and is now posted in Srinagar. He is the son of Jinnappa Poojary and Baby J Poojary, residents of Pidapatla of Keyyur in the taluk. He is married to Sujatha and they have two children.
