Udupi, Feb 15: Approval for the action plan chalked out for the grant of Rs 503.24 crores that was distributed among
various departments of the zilla panchayat for the financial year 2018-19 was given in the meeting that was presided over by Dinakar Babu in the auditorium of the panchayat on Thursday, February 14.
Out of the total amount of Rs 503.24 crores, Rs 178.14 crore for zilla panchayat programmes, Rs 324.43 crores for taluk
panchayat projects and Rs 67 lac was marked for gram panchayat related works. Rs 850 lac was granted to rural road
development project of the district under panchayat raj engineering department. Rs 478 lac was granted for the maintenance of rural roads. Rs 400 lac was given as grant for the legislative development of zilla panchayat and Rs 100 lac as grant for taluk development.
The approval was granted in the meeting to implement the action plans chalked out for various activities like education,
sports and youth services, health, Ayush, social welfare, ITDP, women and children welfare, agriculture, horticulture,
animal husbandy, fishing, social, forest, cooperative, rural industries, silk, handloom, textile, Kannada and culture,
welfare of differently-abled people and employment and training department.
The government has formed the 'Namma Grama Namma Yojane' with the thought of forming projects from the ground level. Under this project, gram meetings have to be held in every gram panchayat with the locals and 'Namma Grama Namma Yojane' or Gram Panchayat Development Plan (GPDP) needs to be formed.
From this year all action plans will be managed under GPDP. The GPDP is formed as a software-based project and the project will be carried out in various phases. Due to this the project and plan will reach directly to the beneficiaries without any hiccups. Proposals of various development projects will be cumulated and installed in the software.
A decision was made in the meeting to submit a annual draft of projects to the government amounting to Rs 545.22 for 2019 -20.
Shashikant Padubidri, president of agriculture and industrial standing committee, Sindhu B Roopesh, CEO, Nagesh Raikar, deputy secretary and Srinivas Rao, chief planning officer were present in the meeting.
