Mangaluru: Faithful throng at novena on Day 8 of feast of Relic of Saint Anthony

Mangaluru, Feb 14: Fr Walter D’Mello, parish priest of Infant Jesus Church Bantwal, offered the Holy Mass on the eighth day of the novena in preparation for the feast of Relic at Milagres Church for the intention of elderly.

Fr Walter in his homily said, “In today’s world which driven by commercial values people are valued on the basis of usefulness. As long as they are useful they are wanted and respected. Once people become unproductive they are dumped as useless. Almighty God while giving Ten Commandments to the people of Israel through Moses instructed them to respect the parents. Jesus son of God when he became human being said that neglecting parents is not the will of God.” Further in his homily Fr Walter said that there is plenty to learn from the wisdom of elderly and respecting elderly should be a part of our culture.



Fr Thrishan D’Souza, assistant director of the institutes, conducted the novena. Fr Onil D’Souza thanked the choir group of Milagres Church.

A large number of devotees participated in the devotion.
