Kundapur, Feb 11: Block Congress Kota held protests against the recent double murder in Manoor and urged for the resignation of Kota zilla panchayat member Raghavendra Kanchan Barikeri.
Former minister and MLA Vinay Kumar Sorake addressing protesters said that he commends the work of police department which arrested local zilla panchayat member Raghavendra Kanchan Barikeri, responsible for the double murder. “He has shown that he does not know how an elected representative should be and that he is a rowdy,” he said. Sorake further asked if they need such a person as their representative and challenged to get his resignation to get a label of disciplined party.
“While the guilty gets punishment in democracy, it is unfortunate that BJP is supporting the man. Local MP Shobha appears if there is a murder anywhere. But she has not visited the spot in Kota. Voted representatives are supporting zilla panchayat member as he is close to them. It is unfortunate that BJP did not react to the murder of Pravin Poojary in Kokkarne, Vinay Baliga in Mangaluru and double murder in Kota now, while the party blames Congress for murders elsewhere. It is said that local MLA Haladi Srinivas Shetty did not give any answers and supported his student instead. If the matter should end here, the killers should get stringent punishment and a good message should be sent to the society,” he said.
Youth Congress president Vikas Hegde said that BJP is responsible for the unfortunate double murder in Kota. “Is BJP trying to make this state another Uttar Pradesh and Bihar? Where is the local MLA who is labeled as responsible for social justice hiding? Has the social justice dead? Is this the contribution of local MLA for the constituency?” He asked. He urged for the resignation of local zilla panchayat member Raghavendra Kanchan Barikere and offered homage to the departed youths.
