Mangaluru, Feb 11: Deepak Barke (41), working for a call centre located at Morgans Gate here, was found to have ended his life by allowing himself to be crushed by a train. It is believed that he chose to lay across the railway tracks on Saturday night with the aim of committing suicide as his body with the head crushed was found on the railway tracks at Padil here on Saturday night.
Deepak was a resident of Barke here. Since the last two years, he was living with his sister in a flat near Karmar, Padil. He was unmarried, and it is said that since the last some months, he was going through certain problems. He was not attending his duties properly and was not speaking much with others, his friends said.
As it was holiday for his office on Saturday, Deepak was at home since morning. In the evening, he reportedly picked up his purse and cell phone before stepping out of his house. He did not come back. It is believed that he would have taken a decision then to end his life, and proceeded directly to the railway tracks at Padil. The police suspect that he would have been crushed under the wheels of the train at about 9.30 pm on Saturday.
After getting information about the detection of mortal remains of a man on the tracks, railway police went and inspected the spot. They found the victim's cell phone there. On the basis of telephone numbers recorded there, they established his identity. They then contacted Barke's family and conveyed information.
Deepak Barke was holding postgraduate degree in political science. Initially he had worked as lecturer in FMC College Madikeri. He left the job thereafter and worked in ICICI, Tata AIG insurance companies as manager. Thereafter, he joined MPhasis call centre near Morgans Gate. He was working for this concern for the last seven years.
Actual reason for his decision to take away his life is not yet known. A case about Deepak's death was registered in the railway police station here.
