Udupi, Feb 11: In an unexpected twist to the double murder case of Kota near here, the investigating officers have arrested two police constables of District Armed Reserve Force (DAR).
Pavan Amin and Veerendra Acharya are the accused constables who are under arrest now. They were taken into custody on Sunday, February 10 on the accusation of helping the accused in the murder case.
The accused constables had rapport with accused in the double murder case, Harish Reddy, Rajashekhar Reddy, Mahesh Ganiga and Santhosh Kunder since many years.
All the accused in the murder case of Bharat Kumar and Yatish, who were killed in Manoor on January 26, on the night of the murder, stayed in the house belonging to constable Pavan Amin, at Kuchoor of Hebri. On January 27, accused Harish Reddy had called Pavan Amin and asked him to send one SIM card, mobile, cash and other items. Pavan Amin had sent all the requested items through a person by the name Pranav Bhat to Harish Reddy. Later, Pavan and another constable Veerendra Acharya made the arrangement of a car for the accused to escape to some other place.
Pavan made arrangements for the accused to reside in his relative’s house. avan Amin dropped the accused on January 28 to his relatives house in Mallandoor and brought mobile and other items given by Harish Reddy and hid them.
The police have informed that they have confiscated, the car, mobile phone and other items from the accused Pavan Amin and Veerendra Acharya.
The accused were produced to Kundapur court and they have been remanded to judicial custody till February 15.
With the arrest of these two constables, the number of people arrested in this case has risen to eight.
