Mangaluru: Devotees throng on fourth day of novena at feast of Relic of Saint Anthony

Media Release

Mangaluru, Feb 10: Fr Maxim (Cap) from Athma Jyothi Counselling Centre offered the Holy Mass for the intentions of the children on the fourth day of the novena in preparation for the feast of Relic St Anthony at Milagres Church on February 9. Fr Dolphy Serrao belonging to the same centre preached a meaningful homily on raising children with good human values.

He said, “Jesus said, ‘Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven’. The little children are guileless. One need to be like a little child in mind and heart if one wishes to be in the Kingdom of God. But today’s world through the internet provides everything and most of the time even little children become victims to the negative impact of internet. Parents need to protect their children from such vices. As they provide for their material needs they need to be taught spiritual and moral values. The children in turn have to learn to respect their parents and elders. They have to learn the good that is there in their parents and elders and inculcate them in their lives. If that is done then they can remain like little children in their mind and heart though they grow in age.”

At the end of the Holy Mass, all the little children were assembled before the altar and a special prayer was said for them.

Fr Thrishan D’Souza, assistant director of the institutes conducted the Novena. Fr Onil D’Souza thanked the group of little children who sang well during the liturgy. A large number of devotees participated in the devotion.
