Udupi: One student commits suicide, another goes missing from hostel

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (MS)

Udupi, Feb 9: Mallesh (17), a native of Adavibavi village of Gangavati taluk in Koppala, who was staying at the students’ hostel in Kooradi of Brahmavar near here committed suicide. This tragic incident has occurred on Thursday, February 7.

Another student, Mahesh (17), a native of Vijayapura has gone missing.

It is learnt that both Mallesh and Mahesh hatched a plan to run away from the hostel on the morning of Thursday, February 7. Mallesh informed the warden of the hostel that he had to go to the clinic to bring medicine for the hives on his leg. However, the warden sent some other person along with the boy to prevent him going alone to the clinic. In the midst of this development, Mahesh went missing and his bag was found near the hostel.

It has come to light that Mallesh, who could not escape, got frustrated and hanged himself from the tree in a deserted area near the hostel on the evening of Thursday. The teacher noticed during the special class on the night of Thursday that Mallesh was not present in the class. When they searched for him in the hostel and nearby areas, they noticed his body hanging from a tree.

Both were students of 10th standard of Kooradi School. It is said that as both were slow learners, they planned to escape from the hostel for the fear of facing the oncoming SSLC examination.

A case in this regard stands registered in the Brahmavar police station.

Very sad .student was not brilliant in stdies ,thatswhy he suecided?but it shouldnt be a reason to suecide.Parents should take their children as they are.No force .In whole I find in India school system should be changed as here. Here teachers decide at fourth class whether a student is good enough to coop for a highschool(GYM)Then they give certificate to it.when not they visit another school where in other subjects like handycrafts besides maths or so.They can later pick up nursing,or handwerks .Later if one wants to go to gym.can study in extra classes give exams and appear for exam.If parents wants their children go to gym.(5thclass)child has to appear for a exam and pass .only then he is allowed.Otherwise very bad students go to a seperate school special. In India students have pressure to study .heartfelt sympathy to the parents of deceased student.may his soul rest in peace.

Special calsses at night..... i cant understand the education system now a days... whats the requirement for night coaching.... why burden them soo much.. poor kid.. he might be so frustrated... i think even in hostel they were very strict.... god know how they can behave well in such environment...

Now a days there is competition even in LKG .. not in students but parents.... even if the child is sick or having fever the so called parents send them tho school... and with this the kids suffer along with that the fever spreads to other kids aswell..... i have seen this with my own eyes .... are the parents out of their mind.... kids health is first and then everything....

Education is important ... but schools and hostels should not become a prison ...... parents first should open their eyes... institutes do whatever they feel right to become famous....

All schools / Coaching classes are concentrate only on brilliant students to get rank to the school or to get good percentage. Least bothered about slow learners, are they not human beings ?

We need to educate the principal / parents to cope up & motivate them these kind of students as they are pressurized from both sides.

All are not perfect brainy. Slow learners means they have neurological problem in the brain lead to autism
So not to force them to learn and shout n beat.

The problem is Illetratcy, these teachers should be kicked.
Why force children to study ,he might be good in many other things, they should be given a chance to specialize in other activities, there are thousands of them.
