Udupi, Feb 9: Mallesh (17), a native of Adavibavi village of Gangavati taluk in Koppala, who was staying at the students’ hostel in Kooradi of Brahmavar near here committed suicide. This tragic incident has occurred on Thursday, February 7.
Another student, Mahesh (17), a native of Vijayapura has gone missing.
It is learnt that both Mallesh and Mahesh hatched a plan to run away from the hostel on the morning of Thursday, February 7. Mallesh informed the warden of the hostel that he had to go to the clinic to bring medicine for the hives on his leg. However, the warden sent some other person along with the boy to prevent him going alone to the clinic. In the midst of this development, Mahesh went missing and his bag was found near the hostel.
It has come to light that Mallesh, who could not escape, got frustrated and hanged himself from the tree in a deserted area near the hostel on the evening of Thursday. The teacher noticed during the special class on the night of Thursday that Mallesh was not present in the class. When they searched for him in the hostel and nearby areas, they noticed his body hanging from a tree.
Both were students of 10th standard of Kooradi School. It is said that as both were slow learners, they planned to escape from the hostel for the fear of facing the oncoming SSLC examination.
A case in this regard stands registered in the Brahmavar police station.
