Panaji, Feb 8 (TOI): As the government has so far failed to resolve the mining imbroglio, mining dependents under the umbrella of Goa Mining People’s Front (GMPF) will hold a candlelight march at Azad Maidan, Panaji, on Friday at 6.30pm.
“This is to press for our demand for resumption of mining in the state and also to highlight the impact of the closure of mining industry on Goa’s economy,” said president, GMPF, Puti Gaonkar. Two days ago, a Goan delegation met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on the mining issue, the first after mining operations came to a halt in March 2018.
