Bengaluru, Feb 8: The state high court, on Thursday February 7, quashed the case registered in the rural police station here against Sri Rajashekharananda Swamiji of Vajradehi Math, Gurpur here. The said case was registered against the Swamiji in 2014 relating to an incident of communal disturbance.

A single judge bench of the high court presided over by Justice Arvind Kumar passed the said order. The bench found that the magistrate court had acted unilaterally in serving summons on the Swamiji and that the chargesheet does not have anything that proves the criminal charges leveled against him.

Details

Two groups had clashed with each other on the night of December 5, 2014, at Ulaibettu within the limits of the rural police station here. Over a hundred people including the said Swamiji had staged road blockade as a form of protest at Vamanjoor Junction on December   6, alleging that Hindus were attacked during this friction. On this occasion, the police had registered complaint against several people including the Swamiji. On May 3, 2017, chargesheet was filed in the trial court. The court had served summons on the Swamiji on August 19 the same year.

Advocate, M Arun Shyam, had appeared on behalf of the petitioner in the high court.
