Karwar, Feb 8: Severed part of a drowned fishing boat was found floating in the sea near Ratnagiri, Maharashtra. Speculation is rife about the possibility of this being a piece of the 'Suvarna Tribhuja' fishing boat which had sailed off from Malpe in Udupi district.
The remnants of the boat were found floating in the sea by the fishermen from Belekeri in Ankola taluk, who were fishing near Ratnagiri. They suspect that the floating part could be belonging to the missing boat. The fishermen have passed on this information to the personnel of Coastal Security Police Force.
The boat, 'Suvarna Tribhuja', which left Malpe on December 15 and proceeded towards Malwa coast in Maharashtra for fishing, had gone mysteriously missing along with seven fishermen from Udupi and Uttara Kannada districts. So far, efforts to find the remains of the boat or to collect information about the fate of its fishermen have not yielded any results.
The state government has said that it is committed to continue with the search operation by using all available methods till the boat is traced.
