Mangaluru, Feb 7: The relatives and community leaders have demanded release of Mangaluru origin pastors detained in Mysuru under POCSO Act. The community leaders claim that the priests are being falsely framed in a kidnap and sexual harassment and caste abuse case of a minor girl.
At a condemn meet held at Diocesan Women Centre at Balmatta on Thursday, February 7, the community members demanded that police should release the pastors and investigate the false case and punish the people who have fabricated the story.
"The pastors Sebastian, Joshua Aman and Bennett Aman are all hailing from Balmatta and are known for their good conduct. Their service towards community and society is widely proclaimed and they have high respect for women and children. Someone who is jealous of them has fabricated the story of kidnap and harassment and given false complaint. There is no truth in such story,” community leader Uday said.
He also informed that on behalf of community he has submitted a memorandum to Mangaluru Police Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner appealing a proper investigation and release of the pastors.
The wives of accused pastors were also present at the meeting and denied the allegations put on their husbands.
Earlier Narasimha Raja Mohalla police in Mysuru had registered an FIR against three pastors of Mangaluru origin under the POCSO Act for kidnapping, sexual harassment and abusing the caste of a minor girl.
