Udupi, Feb 5: "Though cancer is a fatal disease, it can be cured completely if it is detected in the first stage and suitable treatement is taken," said Dr Vasudev Upadhyaya, Survey officer of district survey unit.
Dr Vasudev was speaking after inaugurating the cancer awareness programme - short drama and information, which was held under the slogan 'I am I will', jointly organized by district health and family welfare department, district hosptial, Ajjarakadu and district Non Communicable Diseases (NCD) unit at the park premises of district hospital on account of World Cancer Day celebration.
"A NCD center is established by the government in the district hospital. If anyone has doubts about any type of cancer, can get the same tested there and get proper solution. The awareness regarding cancer should not be limited to one day but should be spread by vigorous campaigning. We have already held five screening camps in Kundapur and the work of creating awareness on cancer is on." added Dr Vasudev.
A short drama named 'Navu Gellaballevu' on the subject of cancer awareness was performed on the occasion. District health officer Nagaratna, Pathologists of the district hospital Veena Kumari and Shashi Kumar were present on the occasion.
Counselor of NCD Manu welcomed the gathering. Personal consultant Krithi compered the programme and rendered the vote of thanks.
