Mangaluru, Feb 4: Senior Congress leader B Janardhana Poojary said,"Prime Minister Narendra Modi is a bad omen for our country and there is a conspiracy that is being hatched to destroy democracy in West Bengal."
Addressing media here on Monday, Febrauary 4, B Janardhana Poojary said,"People in West Bengal are agitated by the provocative speeches made by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP national president Amit Shah during their visit to West Bengal. Chief minister Mamatha Banerjee is on sit-in dharna to save the federal structure of the country and said that she is ready to die for the people. Prime Minister Modi should resolve the issue through supreme court and should come forwad to save a woman."
"If Modi fails to provide justice, I will go on hunger strike at Kudroli temple in defence of Mamatha Bannerjee." added Poojary. However, later he changed his statement and said,"since the supreme court has postponed the hearing of CBI plea against Kolkata Police Commissioner Rajeev Kumar to Tuesday, depending upon the decision of the supreme court I will take a call on hunger strike at Kudroli temple."
Altercation with journalist
When a journalist asked about West Bengal chief minister Mamatha Bannerjee's action of defending Kolkata Police Commissioner Rajeev Kumar, who is accused of destroying evidence related to the Saradha chit fund scam, and defending of Mamatha Banerjee by Poojary is similar to supporting corruption. The scribe also questioned the correctness of holding a protest inside a temple for a political reason. B Janardhana Poojary was outraged with this question and said,"If you ask any more questions, I will send you out of this hall."
This led to an altercation between journalists and B Janardhana Poojary, but still Janardhana Poojary did not answer the question posed by the said journalist.
