Daijiworld Media Network – Udupi (RJ)

Udupi, Feb 4: A woman cheated Malabar Gold & Diamond jewellery outlet in the city with fake gold ornaments.

Saritha Pandey, the lady who allegedly cheated the jeweller, approached the outlet and purchased a locket, finger ring and earring in exchange for a golden chain that weighed 26.440 gram. The manager of the outlet accepted the gold chain as it showed 91.6% purity while the same was checked on the machine and also for the fact that it carried Hallmark on it.

The lady purchased a pendent weighing 14.01 gram, a earring weighing 4.0430 gram and an uncut diamond ring weighing 3.130 gram. The balance amount of Rs 2,750 was paid back to the lady by the outlet. When the gold given by the lady was tested again the same night by the authorities of the shop, they found that the gold chain contained copper.

A complaint was filed by Hafiz Rehman, manager of the shop with the city police station.

A similar case was reported at Malabar Gold and Diamond shop in Mysuru. The city police have gone to Mysuru to know whether the lady in question is the same.

Counter complaint must be filed against Malbaris by the lady stating the chain given by her was pure & tested in front of her for purity & the same changed in her absence by employees, she cannot be responsible for manipulation in her absence. Sure win win case for lawyers.
