Mangaluru, Feb 2: Pavoor Uliya temporary bridge was destroyed by unknown miscreants on Saturday, February 2.

The bridge was constructed by local people by using their hard-earned money as the government showed no interest when they repeatedly asked for help.

It is suspected that sand mafia is behind the act, as the residents had stopped the mafia from mining sand illegally in the area.

Last week the residents had conducted raids on sand mining areas and had detained boats. These boats were then handed over to police. After that, the department of geology and mining officials with the police conducted another raid and seized more than 50 boats engaged in illegal sand mining.

This incident is believed be a revenge act.

Miscreants also damaged some vehicles parked on the riverside.

More details are awaited.
