Mumbai, Jan 20: The 15th annual day celebrations of Konkani group ‘Malvani’ were held on Sunday January 18 at St Anthony’s School auditorium, Malvani, Malad (West).
Aldel Education Trust and St John College of Engineering and Technology chairman Albert W D’Souza was the chief guest of the occasion, who honoured Malvani founder member Sebastian D’Mello with a shawl and flowers.
Veteran Konkani dramatist and comedian Francis Fernandes Cascia, Malaika Group of Concerns chairman Gilbert Baptist, entrepreneur and social worker Walter D’Souza Jerimeri, St Anthony’s School principal Fr James D’Costa and Malvani St Anthony's parish priest Fr Ajit Bhandekar were the guests of honour.
Malvani president Louisa Pereira, vice-president Sebastian D’Mello, secretary Charles Saldanha, treasurer Gregory Veigas, and cultural committee president Felix D’Souza Malvani were present at the dais.
Alice D’Souza, Francis Castellino, and Jane S, were also honoured on the occasion.
Malvani members Paul D’Costa, Anita Quadros, and Dulcine D’Souza, honoured the guests with flower bouquets. Flaini, Felita, and Elita, presented the prayer dance while Clement Lobo Nakre compered the programme.
‘Problema Voir Problema’, a Konkani play by playwright Claude D’Souza, Bendore, and directed by Joy Paladka, Mira Road, was staged on the occasion. Sukrin and Malvani singers also performed.
