Chikkaballapur, Jan 31: Former union minster and MP, M Veerappa Moily, accused some farmer leaders of spreading misinformation relating to Yettinahole project, and trying to mislead the people. He was speaking at Bagepalliin the district on Wednesday January 30.
"Before I was elected as the Member of Parliament representing Chikkaballpur constituency, people of Bagepalli and Gudibande taluks had no other option but to consume water having high fluoride content. They suffered from various ailments. I succeeded in convincing the then chief minister, Siddaramaiah to execute Yettinahole project, and made an honest attempt to implement it for your benefit. This is a huge effort in which 24 tmc of water is planned to be brought to the districts in the plains. I wish to survive till I see Yettinahole water flowing into the districts in the plains," he asserted.
He said that in spite of various obstacles, Yettinahole project will be executed, and promised to see that water from Yettinahole will flow into these districts on experimental basis in June this year.
